We have a fully accessible 16 seater minibus which is available for hire for local community groups. The kind of permit we have means that we cannot hire it out for private bookings, however.
So, if you run a local community group and you’re looking for some transport for an event, here we will answer some frequently asked questions.
Can I drive the minibus myself?
Whilst we do have some lovely volunteer drivers who will often help us with various requests, sometimes they aren’t available. You may also prefer to drive yourself. In this case, we do ask that the driver of the minibus fits into the following categories:
- Has completed MiDAS training in the last 3 years
- OR has experience of driving minibuses and/or vans/large vehicles
- Is over the age of 25 and under the age of 70
- Has a full clean driving licence
- IF the driver is being paid to drive by your group, the driver MUST hold a category D on their licence
If nobody in your party fits into this category, we can have a look for a driver for you.
How many people can I get on the minibus?
Our minibus holds up to 16 passengers.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Our minibus has a tail lift at the rear and a side step to support people with poorer mobility to get on. Should you have a passenger who uses a wheelchair, our minibus can hold ONE wheelchair that is clamped in (this is for passengers who cannot transfer out of their wheelchair onto a normal minibus seat) or TWO folded wheelchairs.
What kind of availability is there?
Normally, the minibus is available during the week as follows:
Monday – FREE
Tuesday – FREE
Wednesday – Available after 4pm
Thursday – Available after 1pm
Friday – Available after 3pm
Saturday – ON REQUEST
Sunday – FREE
