Talking Newsdisk

Glossop’s only talking newspaper works in partnership with The Bureau.

What are the aims?

Their aim is to help sight impaired people in Glossopdale keep up to date with local news and feel like part of the community by recording news onto a CD, which is posted out to the client.

‘Newsdisk’ is a weekly 45-minute programme of roundup of news, events and interviews featuring items of local interest which covers Glossop, Padfield, Hadfield, Tintwistle, Gamesley, Chisworth and Charlesworth.

What’s involved?

They can support any members of our community who experience sight loss, and also try to reach other lonely and isolated individuals through the libraries and The Bureau’s Community Navigation team.

It is put together and recorded onto CD by a team of dedicated volunteers.  The service is entirely FREE and is distributed every Thursday to over 80 blind or partially sighted listeners. There is no cost for this service.

Client quote…
