Pre Employment

Towards Work Program

Aims

We aim to support with those first vital steps towards gaining employment through a personalised service and support to overcome barriers an individual may face. The goal is to help you move towards your destination such as a job, moving into education or independently job searching.

Who can benefit?

We can support anyone who is unemployed or not in any kind of paid employment. It will benefit anyone who may have been out of work for a long period of time and or may have some personal barriers that are preventing them moving forward in their lives.

Support can be provided through one to one appointments and this can be at The Bureau or an alternative suitable location if that is easier for the person.

Is there a cost involved?

This program is totally free of charge.

Participant quote…

“I really enjoyed doing the course, you were very helpful and your enthusiasm rubbed off on me and gave me the confidence to try a different line of work. You helped me adjust my CV and make it more noticeable to employers. You showed me that I had other skills and abilities that I could transfer to a new type of job”.

Life Skills

Aims

The Life Skills Project delivers support to individuals with complex needs furthest away from being ready, or able to enter the job market.  The complex needs include mental ill health including anxiety; learning difficulties; chaotic lifestyles; substance misuse; low confidence and motivation; and social isolation.

The Life Skills Project offers support to them by helping them to identify and build on their existing strengths; as well as assisting them to identify the life and work skills they need to improve the quality of their lives. A tailormade pathway is developed with the clients, shaped by their strengths and complexity of need. We offer one to one volunteer mentor support, training support, a confidence building and stress management group work programme, as well as volunteer and work placements.

Who can benefit?

We can support anyone who:

  • is over the age of 16
  • has the right to live and work in the UK
  • is not engaged in any other government funded training scheme (if you’re not sure, just ask!)
  • is facing complex challenges in their lives
  • and is some distance from entering the job market.

Support can be provided through one to one appointments and group work, and this can be at The Bureau or an alternative suitable location if that is easier for the person.

Is there a cost involved?

This program is totally free of charge.

Participant quote…

“I just wanted to say thank you to the Bureau since I joined in February this year. I’ve come so far and achieved the goals I set. The people there and the Bureau have made me feel a lot less anxious  and feel so much more confident. I have to be honest and say that without Ed and the support from the Bureau during the lockdown, I don’t think I would have survived it. I can’t thank the Bureau enough for everything they have done to improve my mental health and everything else.”
