Visually Impaired Group

The Glossopdale Visually Impaired (VIP) Group is independent self-help and support group who we work in partnership with.

What are the aims?

Their aim is to connect people together who are experiencing sight loss across Glossopdale. They are a self-help mutual support group, which meets monthly.W

What’s involved?

The VIP group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 13.30 – 15.00 at Bradbury Community House, in Glossop. There is no cost to attend.

The group also provides befriending support and offers home visits to people experiencing sight loss to help with aids and equipment as well as signposting to other local support.

They arrange monthly social outings, such as theatre trips, meals out, visits to garden centres and to local coffee shops.

Client quote…

“I can’t thank you enough for the support you have given me with my sight impairments. After struggling with my eye condition, a friend told me about the VIP group and I came along to the monthly meeting. I realised I wasn’t alone and the practical advice and support you gave me really helped me cope with my sight loss. I also really enjoy the trips out and have made some very special friends through this group. Thank you!”
