Home Start High Peak Volunteers Required
Website HomeStartHP Home Start High Peak
Local charity Home-Start High Peak is aiming to recruit new volunteers to keep pace with the increasing demand for support of families with young children, struggling to cope with a variety of issues.
We are looking for interested individuals, parents and grandparents, who can offer an extra pair of hands and a listening ear for just a couple of hours per week. We train and support volunteers as they help families to cope with situations as diverse as social isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness or disability. Those interested are invited to apply for the next preparation course for new volunteers, which will be starting soon.
The training, partly via Zoom and partly face to face, involves potential volunteers in learning how the service works, and how best to provide support. It covers Listening & Communication, Supporting Parents, and Meeting the Needs of children, all with a practical approach.
Home-Start High Peak has been recruiting and training volunteers to befriend and support families with young children since 2006. In this time, around 1000 families have asked for help. The new volunteers will join over 190 others who have been trained since the scheme started to operate around the region. There are no age limits but experience either of parenting or of having parental responsibility is a must. We welcome male and female potential volunteers.
