Tuesday Dementia Friendly Group

Aim

The aim of this group is to provide a safe empathetic environment in which participants enjoy an opportunity to share time with one another.

Who Can Benefit?

If you are lonely or simply needing to widen your network of friends, this group could be right for you. The group meets for games and crafts at the Jericho Café in Gamesley. The group was established as a dementia friendly group and therefore the values of trust and empathy are embedded in the different activities.

Is there a cost involved?

There is no cost, but donations are welcome.

Together Growing

Aim

The aim of this group is to bring people together who share an interest in gardening activities or just generally spending social time outside. The group provides an inclusive, warm, friendly environment in which those attending can feel accepted and comfortable as they work towards gardening projects.

Who Can Benefit?

The group is for people who like to be out and about regardless of the weather. People who enjoy working in a group, engaging in light physical activity and don’t mind getting a little muddy. 

Is there a cost involved?

There is no cost involved.

Monday Group at the Norfolk

Aim

The aim of this group is to bring people from our local community together it also gives people who attend a chance to meet with a community navigator and address any queries or concerns they may have.  We also enjoy a few social events throughout the year.

Who Can Benefit?

People who are socially isolated, people who are struggling with life events, people who are lonely.  People who need a social support and advice.

Is there a cost involved?

There is no cost involved, but donations are welcome

Tuesday Group at Hadfield Methodist

Aim

The group is super friendly and eveyone welcome to come along, have a cuppa and a natter and meet new people. Opportunities are also available for people to have a chat with a community navigator should any issues crop up in their life and support is needed.

Those who are lonely and would like to meet others. Also, should anyone have any problems in their life and they would like an opportunity to speak with someone who can try and help, then this is the group for them, as a community navigator is usually present at the group to offer support.

Befriending

Aim

Our aim is to support people in the community who are feeling isolated and/or who do not have strong social connections – we link them with a volunteer who will then act as “a good neighbour” by visiting someone in their home or phoning them, and giving them some regular company/companionship.

Those who are lonely and would like to meet others. Also, should anyone have any problems in their life and they would like an opportunity to speak with someone who can try and help, then this is the group for them, as a community navigator is usually present at the group to offer support.
