Combatting Loneliness, Isolation, and Promoting Wellbeing in Glossopdale
The Bureau provides a number of activities for isolated people in the local community, designed to support their emotional and practical needs. Our activities are delivered by our 200+ fantastic volunteers.
Our services are available to adults in Glossopdale who have difficulty participating in community life or living independently because of disability, poor health or advancing age. Please find a summaries of these services below:
A Caring Voice on the Line: Call Companions
Feeling isolated or lonely? Our Call Companions program offers a friendly listening ear with a weekly telephone call to brighten your day. Our dedicated volunteers are ready to provide companionship and support.
Bridge the Gap with Social Connectors and Befriending
Our dedicated social connectors and befrienders are here to support lonely and socially isolated individuals in Glossopdale. Whether you’re looking for short-term assistance in achieving a specific goal or activity, or seeking long-term companionship and regular visits, our volunteers act as “good neighbors” to provide company and connection.
Stroll, Chat, Connect: Walk and Talk with The Bureau
Take a step towards well-being with our Walk and Talk program. Led by our caring staff, this gentle walk around a local park is a chance to connect with like-minded individuals and enjoy the outdoors. Please note that this program is currently on hold, but we look forward to resuming soon.
