For Clients:

Are you unsure of how to order your repeat prescriptions online? Do you want to book or request an appointment without having to make a phone call to your practice? DHSS offers workshops and volunteers throughout Tameside and Glossop who can help you learn how to:

• Order repeat prescriptions quickly and easily • Access your medical records or proxy access for someone in your care (Parents/carers only) • Book/request appointments online • Manage long-term health conditions from the comfort of your home

How does it help you?

• It’s quicker, easier, and more convenient!
• Avoids the morning rush for appointments
• Reduces your wait time for repeat prescriptions and allows you to check when it has been approved
• Frees up surgery phone lines for those who need it the most

If you or anyone you know could benefit from this support, please contact Emma at 0161 5370630 or email ddicb.digitalhealthsupport@nhs.net

For Volunteers:

We are looking for volunteers to assist in delivering this Programme, supporting those who are digitally excluded to get online and enhance their digital skills. DHSS particularly focuses on helping people use health apps, with the goal of enabling easier and more convenient access to services at GP surgeries, without the need for phone calls or visits to the practice, and empowering individuals to manage their health conditions more independently.

As a Digital Health Champion volunteer, you will work with people in your community to help them develop their digital skills, showing them how to use online services to improve their day-to-day activities and overall health and wellbeing. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Helping clients download and register for the NHS app or any associated GP apps
  • Demonstrating to clients processes such as ordering repeat prescriptions and setting up proxy access.
  • Supporting clients with booking appointments.
  • Helping clients access their medical records and test results.

You may work with clients in a community venue, at a GP surgery, or in their own homes, depending on their needs and your preferences.
