Welcome to The Bureau's Digital Healthcare Support Service!
The Digital Healthcare Support Service (DHSS), delivered by The Bureau, is an integral part of Tameside and Glossop’s Digital Wellbeing Programme, aimed at addressing digital exclusion in the local community. DHSS comprises two key components:
The Digital Wellbeing Project, delivered by PCrefurb: This initiative supports individuals in developing beginner-level digital skills and building confidence in using devices to access online services.
The Digital Healthcare Support Service (DHSS), delivered by The Bureau: This service focuses specifically on assisting people in accessing GP online services and health apps.

• Avoids the morning rush for appointments
• Reduces your wait time for repeat prescriptions and allows you to check when it has been approved

For Volunteers:
We are looking for volunteers to assist in delivering this Programme, supporting those who are digitally excluded to get online and enhance their digital skills. DHSS particularly focuses on helping people use health apps, with the goal of enabling easier and more convenient access to services at GP surgeries, without the need for phone calls or visits to the practice, and empowering individuals to manage their health conditions more independently.
As a Digital Champion volunteer, you will work with people in your community to help them develop their digital skills, showing them how to use online services to improve their day-to-day activities and overall health and wellbeing. Your responsibilities may include:
• Assisting individuals in setting up an email address
• Teaching them how to use video call apps
• Guiding them through online grocery shopping
• Helping them order repeat prescriptions or book appointments via apps, and much more!
You may work with clients in a community venue, at a GP surgery, or in their own homes, depending on their needs and your preferences.
