Thursday Friends
A Caring Community for Cognitive Impairments
Welcome to Thursday Friends, a safe and inclusive space for individuals with cognitive impairments such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, or changes resulting from a stroke, as well as their dedicated carers. At The Bureau, we are committed to providing fun, stimulating activities that promote dignity and respect for our members with cognitive impairments.
Group Details
Our group meets at Bradbury Community House every Thursday at 1:15pm, where you can expect to find a warm atmosphere with tea, coffee, biscuits, and cakes waiting for you. Our experienced volunteers are always there to ensure the safety and well-being of our members.
We offer a variety of activities, including engaging games and crafty projects like making Easter bonnets, Show & Tell sessions, creating Christmas cards, and planting flowers.
In addition, we organize monthly outings to different venues of the group’s choosing, such as Pico Lounge, Thyme Cafe, The Norfolk Arms, or special events like a festive Christmas lunch at Lymefield Garden Centre in Broadbottom.
Led by our trained volunteer Moira, and with the support of coordinator Fi, our group is often entertained by Bernard, our resident accordionist, who keeps spirits high with joyful sing-alongs!
