Inspired by seeing older men enjoying Walking Football Be Well’s ladies asked them to sort out some Gentle Walking Netball for them and they were happy to oblige. GAP – Arts for Wellbeing

Arts for Wellbeing sessions are aimed at people with long-term physical and mental health conditions in Glossop and the surrounding area.
These sessions are offered three times a week, at different times and locations, during term time only. You have the opportunity to meet new people, try new activities, and learn new skills. Our groups are sociable and very relaxed and there is no commitment to attend every week, although we have found that most people return again and again!
Each term, GAP enjoys a new creative ‘theme’, with different activities being offered each week. Clare, our resident artist, will guide you through a number of activities including printmaking, painting, drawing, collage, up-cycling of unwanted objects, sculpture, textiles, and much, much more.
Arts for Wellbeing sessions are free of charge, a voluntary contribution towards refreshments is welcome but not essential.

Be Well’s Dancercise Sessions have been a huge hit and they’re thrilled to be able to get back to them. They’re a great way to keep you active and alert while having a ton of fun, having a boogie and sing song to the tunes of the 50s, 60s, 70s – and even a couple of 80s thrown in there!
Dancercise is a fantastic way to keep healthy and happy, meet new people and learn a new skill. Their ladies have become more coordinated, stamina has increased and their overall health has improved.
With a class to suit every level there will always be a space for you to let your hair down and enjoy yourself. Attendance costs £4.

The group is welcoming, and all that come along quickly feel part of the group. We have taken on the challenge of knitting warm clothing for Homeless charities in High Peak.

GAP – Hands On Art
Victoria Hall (Term Time Only)
This group is aimed at adults with learning disabilities. Some people attending come with support, but they have experienced volunteers able to help with participating in the sessions (although, they cannot provide personal care).
‘Hands on Art’ is exactly that – Hands on! They encourage their participants to use and improve their fine motor skills and dexterity with creativity. Clare, the resident artist, selects projects where people can produce a piece of artwork to take home, for example they have produced calendars and jute bags. They also work with Rhoda Badge, a Speech and Language Therapist who uses music and movement activities – focusing on gentle exercise, role play, group games to improve co-ordination, communication and lots of fun!! Come along during term time and make new friends.
There is a small charge of £5 per session to cover the materials used, they can arrange to charge people from their personal budget where required. They can cater for certain dietary requirements.

“Need a little boost to your wellbeing and want to help us look after one of our nature areas, then come and join us to reconnect with nature in our monthly wellbeing sessions.”
Switch off from the outside world and have time to explore, learn about wildlife and try your hand at some natural crafts and conservation tasks in a relaxed environment. These sessions are run by experienced rangers in one of the Peak Districts nature areas.

Bumps and Babies groups are a great place to make new friends, share your experiences with people going through the same things, and have a reason to get out of the house if everything seems too much or overwhelming, or if you just want to socialise with people in your local area. They welcome all expectant and new parents with refreshments, chat and toys. The Hadfield group is primarily for non-walkers as the room is small and the sensory toys are more geared towards infants. Donations towards their work are very welcome and will be put to good use. They ask for a donation of £2.00 to help us run their groups.

Bright Perspectives (formerly Life Skills)

The Bright Perspectives Project delivers support to individuals with complex needs furthest away from being ready, or able to enter the job market. The complex needs include mental ill health including anxiety; learning difficulties; chaotic lifestyles; substance misuse; low confidence and motivation; and social isolation.
The Bright Perspectives Project offers support to them by helping them to identify and build on their existing strengths; as well as assisting them to identify the life and work skills they need to improve the quality of their lives. A tailormade pathway is developed with the clients, shaped by their strengths and complexity of need. We offer one to one volunteer mentor support, training support, a confidence building and stress management group work programme, as well as volunteer and work placements.

GAP – Arts for Wellbeing

Arts for Wellbeing sessions are aimed at people with long-term physical and mental health conditions in Glossop and the surrounding area.
These sessions are offered three times a week, at different times and locations, during term time only. You have the opportunity to meet new people, try new activities, and learn new skills. Our groups are sociable and very relaxed and there is no commitment to attend every week, although we have found that most people return again and again!
Each term, GAP enjoys a new creative ‘theme’, with different activities being offered each week. Clare, our resident artist, will guide you through a number of activities including printmaking, painting, drawing, collage, up-cycling of unwanted objects, sculpture, textiles, and much, much more.
Arts for Wellbeing sessions are free of charge, a voluntary contribution towards refreshments is welcome but not essential.

Join our friendly group of clients and volunteers at our central Glossop hub, with plenty of brews and a quiz or two. Mind the GAP

A session for 14-18yr olds, this is during the day, with the aim being to support young people who are not in full-time education, employment or training. This session includes free lunch.
During sessions, they offer a variety of arts and crafts activities and more, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. You can choose how much or how little you do, and they want to hear your ideas about how we can make it better – these sessions are for you!
