Welcome to The Bureau's Peer Support Activities!
If you want to feel more connected to others, if you’d like to meet new friends, if you’d like to get out and try new things, or if you want to meet people with similar experiences then one of our groups could be just what you’re looking for. We have a variety of groups and programs designed to bring people together, provide support, and create a sense of community. Join us and let’s grow together!
Monday Group at the Norfolk
Join us at the Norfolk Arms Pub from 10.30 – 12pm on Mondays. Come and connect with others at this popular weekly group in central Glossop. Link in with one of our Community Navigators who can address any queries or support needs you may have. We also have social events and occasional trips further afield throughout the year. Donations are welcome, but there is no cost to participate.

Tuesday Brew Crew
Meeting weekly at Hadfield Methodist Church from 10.30 – 12pm our Brew Crew group is fun, relaxed and welcoming. We play quizzes and games or just sit and chat, all, as the name suggests, over a good brew and some biscuits! We also have occasional trips further afield and social events throughout the year. There is no cost to participate, but donations are welcome.

Tuesday Cast On
Meeting weekly at Hadfield Methodist Church from 12pm –
1.30pm or Friday at The Bureau at 1:30 – 3:30pm, our Cast On group is for anyone
with an interest or a love of knitting and crocheting, you don’t need to be
experienced, we can provide all the materials you’ll need. Whether you’re just
starting out or if you’re a seasoned pro we’d love to welcome you! We also have
social events and occasional trips further afield throughout the year.
Donations are welcome, but there is no cost to participate.
Really helps my mental health. There is always someone to talk to, and a place where I can support others.

Wednesday Dementia Friendly Group
Join our safe and supportive group to share time with
others, it takes place in the community lounge at Robinwood Lodge in Gamesley.
This group is perfect for those who are struggling with the challenges that
later life presents. Our activities such as games and crafts which have been
designed around maintaining cognitive function, manual dexterity, moving more
and reminiscence. There is no cost to participate, but donations are welcome.
This group makes such a difference to Margaret, we see her laughing and talking when she is here.

Forest Folk
This group for men is one of our more structured groups, running for 6-8 weeks at a time. The group hosted at Inside Out Forest School, provides a safe space for men to talk through issues like resilience, creativity and vulnerability whilst reflecting on goals for the future. All of this is done alongside having a go at some woodcraft activities and experimenting with campfire cooking.

Thursday Friends
This group which is for those with Dementia and their carers, meets at Bradbury House every Thursday (the first Thursday of the month the group go out for a meal together). The group is supportive, caring and inclusive, all feel valued and accepted. Each week we sing songs and play games, and on the odd occasion we make our way to Buxton for a lovely day out! We have also enjoy watching films together, and have started working with another local community venue to show films to the group every other month.

Friday Time Out
One of our longest-running groups, Time Out takes place 11am – 1pm every Friday from our central Glossop hub on Henry Street. Come along for a brew, a spot of bingo, chat with new friends, and also get some support with your shopping! Time Out supports people to get out and about in Glossop to pick up their weekly bits and bobs and to connect with others. One of our friendly and helpful volunteers can support you as you mooch down to Mettricks for your bacon, Sowerbutts for your fresh veg and even pop into Embellish to check out some gifts!

Seated Exercise Classes
Our Seated Exercise Classes hosted at Lambgates surgery in Hadfield will be starting soon. These sessions, facilitated by trained instructor, will run for 6 weeks and will provide you with an opportunity to learn how to exercise safely. As part of the classes there will also be the chance to enjoy a bit of social time, with others in the group, over a cup of tea.

Cooking Together
Our Cooking Together programme is designed to provide individuals wishing to learn some basic cooking skills, with the opportunity to pick up some useful tips on how to prepare healthy low-cost meals. This group is ideal for people who have found themselves going through changing circumstances and now wish to learn how to cook either for themselves or someone they now care for.

Gamesley Community Allotment
This group which takes place every Thursday from 1-3pm is based at the Gamesley Allotments. The group provides the opportunity to learn or use your practical gardening skills whilst developing and maintaining the allotment space. There’s plenty of opportunity to chat and make friends over a hot drink. No gardening skills are needed to join this group, just a willingness to give things a go.

Friendly Fellas
Come along and join our Friendly Fellas group, a group for men 50+, who are looking for an opportunity to meet up have a good chat, and put the world to rights over a hot drink. Each week we meet up at the Wetherspoons in Glossop on Tuesdays at 11:00am. There are no costs associated with attending this group, just for your brew which is currently £1.56 (for unlimited refills!).

Ladies Link-Up
Come and join our Ladies Link-up group. Our group meets at Pico lounge every Wednesday at 11:00am. The group, as the name suggests, is a place for women 50+, to come together and have chat and laugh in a warm, friendly environment. We are a very welcoming group, believing that more people should benefit from our fun community. There are no costs associated with attending this group other than for refreshments you order.
