Leaving a legacy is an excellent way to make a lasting impact on the causes you care about. If you’re considering leaving a gift to an organization, there are several options available to you.
Option 1: Percentage Gift
One popular option is leaving a percentage gift. This involves specifying a percentage of your estate to be distributed to friends and family, while a smaller percentage goes to your chosen organization. Percentage gifts are particularly powerful as they retain their value over time, unaffected by inflation.
Option 2: Fixed Amount or Specific Item
Alternatively, you can choose to leave a fixed amount of money or a specific item, such as a piece of jewelry or shares in a company, which can be sold to fund the organization’s work. This option is a great choice if you have a particular item that you would like to pass on, or if you want to make a more specific and tangible contribution to the organization.
Ultimately, the choice of how to leave a legacy is a personal one. Whatever option you choose, it will be greatly appreciated and will help to make a real difference in the lives of those who benefit from the organization’s work.
Honoring your loved one or supporting The Bureau can be a meaningful way to leave a lasting legacy. When you include us in your Will, you have the option to dedicate your gift to the memory of a loved one. This ensures that the work we do in their name will be part of their legacy too. On the other hand, you can also pledge your gift to any Supporter Group that you belong to. Please inform your Will writer if you choose to do so, and they will ensure that your gift is appropriately recognised as a tribute or directed to a specific named Supporter Group.
To ensure the validity and legality of your will, it’s crucial to have it drafted by a legal professional and properly witnessed. This process need not be complicated or costly, as there are options available for free or at a discounted rate.
