Welcome to the new look Bureau!
Volunteer Centre Glossop was set up in 1979. Over 35 years later it has seen many changes and the range of services offered by the centre has developed and increased over the years.
However 2016 was a tough year for the Volunteer Centre. A proposal by Derbyshire County Council to cut its core funding threatened the future of the organisation. Due to the fantastic response by local residents, councillors and our amazing team of volunteers and staff, we were able to showcase all the different volunteer led services coordinated from the Centre that play a vital role helping people to live independently, manage their health and well-being, and get help with paid employment.
Why the new look?
Our name makes many people think that we are “just a volunteer centre” and this is all we do. So based on discussions with local people and groups we decided to produce a new website to highlight all the different services we provide and also go back to our original name, The Bureau.
As well as highlighting our services, the new Website will be a resource for people to navigate all the different groups and volunteer services that exist across Glossopdale, and a resource for people who want to volunteer their time and find out about local opportunities.
So please have a look round the new website and let us have your feedback.
